‘As in a Looking-Glass’: Quakers and the Bible
with Stuart Masters
Saturday 7 March 2020 10.00am – 4.30pm (arrivals from 9.30am)
Saffron Walden Baptist Church, High Street, Saffron Walden, CB10 1DY
This workshop will explore what is distinctive about the Quaker understanding of the Bible. We will look at early Friends’ contemplative and empathetic approach to Scripture, and why the writings of the apostle Paul are so important in making sense of Quaker ways. We will also engage with a range of Bible passages that have been important to Friends, and spend time thinking about how we can use the Bible individually and as a community today.
Stuart Masters coordinates Woodbrooke’s onsite course programme and leads courses exploring the Quaker way and its relationship to other traditions.
