Pastoral care

Dear Friends,

This Sunday, after Meeting for Worship, at about 12 noon, we will be having a discussion on our system of Pastoral Care. This will be based on the report prepared by our Pastoral Care Group which was postponed from our Meeting for Business through lack of time. Although a copy of the report was circulated previously, for ease of reference, I am attaching another copy. Also to remind you of the background, I am attaching the thoughtful report written by our Friend, Michael Akehurst, in 2016 before the circles of support were introduced.

In order to fully consider the first question raised in the report on whether our current pastoral care system should return to one of oversight, it would be a good idea of Friends could read section 12.13 in Quaker Faith and Practice about the Responsibilities of Oversight. And if you have time, sections 12.14 to 12.19 provide helpful guidance on Sharing Responsibility for Pastoral Care.
