A new Climate Café has opened in Bury St Edmunds as a place to help people share their concerns about Climate Change and discuss ideas for positive ways.

The Climate Cafe takes place on the first Friday of each month after our Silent Witness for Climate Justice held on the first Saturday of the month . All very welcome.

Bury St Edmunds Climate Cafe has been established through a collective of local people concerned about the environment, to help people respond to the burden of climate change. Climate Cafes are welcoming, informal spaces where people can drop in and have a chat over a cuppa. People who attend find it helpful to share their thoughts and feelings about Climate Change, and discuss positive ways forward. One of the organisers said “Climate Café is a friendly space for people to come together over a cuppa to talk about climate change. It is also a great place to exchange information and to discuss ideas for ways in which we can respond, without anyone feeling any pressure to join a group or sign up to a particular action”.

Three in four adults (74%) feel worried about climate change according to the Office for National Statistics, with Climate change being the second biggest concern facing adults in Great Britain. This is not surprising given that 2023 was the hottest year on record globally, leading to unprecedented floods, wildfires and droughts around the world.
