Collection for Calais

There is a box in the Meeting House (St John’s Street, Bury St Edmunds) where you can leave items that are needed by the refugees in Calais.

There has been such a generous response to the appeals for clothing that we are now being asked NOT to send any more for a month, while a better depot is being built there, and possibly one in London.

Don’t let that stop you bringing items. When the new Calais depot is up and running, we will ensure that the donations continue their journey.

What is BADLY needed:

• SHOES : Trainers or hiking shoes (only the most common sizes 41 to 43)
• TENTS (Even incomplete) , COVERS, TARPAULIN
• JACKETS : Only small and medium sized ones
• TRAVELLING BAGS
• SOCKS
• CANDLES or any other lighting implement
• BELTS

What is ALWAYS needed:

• Tracksuit trousers (highly appreciated)
• Jeans (Size 28 to 32)
• Blankets
• Sleeping bags
• Soap
• Shampoo
• Toothbrushes
• Toothpaste
• Plastic bags
• Wooly hats
• Pants
• Pots
• Pans.

What is NOT needed:
WOMENS AND CHILDRENS CLOTHES OR SHOES, Sheets, Pillows, Suits, Town shoes, Jumpers, Wellingtons.
